I got the perfect MTB tour when riding with kids. A relaxing S1 trail at Lake Starnberg, near Munich. You can either do the whole tour or just parts of it depending on your kid’s age.
We started at Lake Starnberg and went along the path to the Maisinger Schlucht. Simply follow the signs from the train station.
The trail along the Maisinger Schlucht is beautiful during fall season. Not too crowded, easy for kids, but not too boring either.
From there we went to the Maisinger Lake and just enjoyed the gorgeous views. Afterwards, you can either ride to Tutzing or Andechs, whatever you prefer.
However, for a three-year old, I recommend to only do the tour from Starnberg to the Maisinger Lake, via Maisinger Schlucht. It is interesting enough for the little ones, has enough room for little breaks and is not too exhausting.
In between you should stop at “Gasthaus Georg Ludwig” where you can enjoy a hot chocolate, together with delicious Belgium waffles. Seriously one of the best Belgium waffles I have ever tried. We paid 12,50 EUR for a pumpkin soup, Belgium waffles and a hot chocolate, which is MORE than fair.
All in all, a lovely afternoon for the whole bike family with a beautiful sundown at the lake.
