Skiing, playing golf and dining festively with Austria’s best vintners: it’s about time for the Winzer Wedelcup in Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal.
Outstanding wines, exquisite cuisine and athletic challenges on the ski slopes and on the golf course – you will experience this special combination only at one event: the Winzer Wedelcup in Hochzillertal. From 5th to 8th April 2018, nonprofessional sport enthusiasts and gourmands can compete against Austria’s most prestigious vintners at a ski race (parallel slalom and giant slalom) and a golf tournament. The entry list is star-studded with the who’s who of the Austrian wine scene. Walter Glatzer, Christina Hugl, Andreas Kötzl (Lower Austria), Jacqueline Klein, Hannes Reeh and Josef Gager (Burgenland) as well as the Polz brothers, Gerhard Wohlmuth and Wilfried (Steiermark), Wolfgang Matuska and Rainer Christ (Vienna) and last, but not least, Klaus Aniballi (Tyrol) – alongside others, they all registered for the event. They come along with a collection of selected and highly awarded wines. White, red or rose – Gourmands and sport enthusiasts can taste the wines for example in Austria’s highest situated wine cellar in the five-star Wedelhütte.

The Winzer Wedelcup is made up of the following four event highlights:
Thursday, 5th April – Culinary Gala: The Winzer Wedelcup begins at 7pm with the Culinary Gala at the Sportresidenz Zillertal. The vintners present their wines at a tasting menu. No other than Harald Pollak from lower Austria will be responsible for this year’s menu of the Culinary Gala. Make your reservations until 3rd April 2018 under www.winzerwedelcup.at. Price: 85 Euro per person.
Friday, 6th April – Winzer Wedel Training: The training race will take place right at the Wedelhütte, Tyrol’s only 5-star-hut at an altitude of 2350 meters. The race starts at 11am. The entry fee including brunch with wine degustation is 25 Euro per person (ski pass excluded).
Saturday, 7th April – Winzer Wedelcup: The giant slalom (warm-up, inspection of the race course and registration) will start at 11am on the racing course at Kristallhütte. Entry fee is again 25 Euro per person including delicacies from Lower Austria (ski pass excluded).
Prize for the winners of the ski cup: A pair of Nordica ski, issued in a limited special edition only for the Winzer Wedelcup.
Sunday, 8th April – Golf tournament: The golf tournament which will take place on the golf grounds in Zillertal-Uderns will be the sporty conclusion of the Winzer Wedelcup and at the same time the official start of the Tyrol golfing season. The participating teams will play the 18 holes from 10am. Make your registration at the latest by 5th April 2018 under email@example.com. Entry fee is 12 Euro per person including halfway catering (without green fees).
