Skiing, playing golf and dining festively with Austria’s best vintners: it’s about time for the 6th Winzer Wedelcup in Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal from 6th to 9th April 2017.

Outstanding wines, exquisite cuisine and athletic challenges on the ski slopes and on the golf course – you will experience this special combination only at one event: the Winzer Wedelcup in Hochzillertal. From 6th to 9th April 2017, nonprofessional sport enthusiasts and gourmands can compete against Austria’s most prestigious vintners at a ski race (parallel slalom and giant slalom) and a golf tournament. The entry list is star-studded with the who’s who of the Austrian wine scene. Walter Glatzer (Lower Austria), Jacqueline Klein, Paul Kerschbaum and Josef Gager (Burgenland) as well as the Polz brothers (Steiermark) alongside other famous vintners registered for the event. They come along with a collection of selected and highly awarded wines. White, red or rose – Gourmands and sport enthusiasts can taste the wines for example in Austria’s highest situated wine cellar in the five-star Wedelhütte.

The Winzer Wedelcup 2017 is made up of the following four event highlights:

Thursday, 6th April – Culinary Gala: The 6th Winzer Wedelcup begins at 7pm with the Culinary Gala at the Sportresidenz Zillertal. The vintners present their wines at a tasting menu. No other than Alexander Fankhauser from Hochfügen will be responsible for this year’s menu of the Culinary Gala. The celebrity chef and TV cook known from the Austrian ORF channel will prepare the tasting menu together with the chefs of the Sportresidenz Zillertal. Make your reservations until 5th April 2017 under info@winzerwedelcup.at. Price: 83 Euro per person.

Friday, 7th April 2017 – Parallel slalom: The parallel slalom (training and race) will take place right at the Wedelhütte, Tyrol’s only 5-star-hut at an altitude of 2350 meters. The race starts at 11am. The entry fee including brunch with wine degustation is 25 Euro per person (ski pass excluded).

Saturday, 8th April 2017 – Giant slalom: The giant slalom (warm-up, inspection of the race course and registration) will start at 11am on the racing course at Kristallhütte. Entry fee is again 25 Euro per person including delicacies from Lower Austria (ski pass excluded).

Prize for the winners of the ski cup: A pair of Nordica ski, issued in a limited special edition only for the 6th Winzer Wedelcup.

Sunday, 9th April 2017 – Golf tournament: The golf tournament which will take place on the golf grounds in Zillertal-Uderns will be the sporty conclusion of the 6th Winzer Wedelcup and at the same time the official start of the Tyrol golfing season 2017. The participating teams will play the 18 holes from 10am. The awards ceremony will take place directly on the golf course in the Genusswerkstatt of the Sportresidenz Zillertal. Make your registration at the latest by 1st April 2017 under info@golf-zillertal.at. Entry fee is 12 Euro per person including halfway catering (without green fees).
