Oh boy, this is probably going to be the toughest fitness plan for me personally. I am an active person, love to exercise and usually have lots of power and energy. But over the last few months I did not really take good care of my body: not enough sleep, loads of work, a lot of stress and too much junk food and industrial sugar. Thus, I feel more tired and just don’t feel good about myself.

Detoxification

Actually one of my colleagues inspired me to look into several body cleansing programs. At first I thought I could NEVER do it. But then after thinking about it for quite a while, I felt like a hypocrite. I cannot really tell, if something is good for me or not, when I haven’t actually tried it.

So I decided to actually try one of these programs to find out if they REALLY work or if it’s just another marketing scam or simply a placebo effect. What are the risks, side effects, does your body really need a detox etc.? I don’t just wanna form my opinion based on my own experience, I also wanna collect hard facts: blood tests, analysis of the ingredients of the detox drinks, body analysis and so on.

The first thing was that I went to see my doctor and talked about it. She drew some blood, made some standard tests and analyzed my weight and body fat. And as it turned out, I slightly suffer from mineral deficiency, but nothing too serious. She said it’s an interesting project and I am good to go.

30-day body cleanse

Such diet emphasizes the toxicity of acid for humans and instructs dieters to alkalize their bodies to balance their pH levels. Thus I will do a 30-day body cleanse in order to revitalize my system, refuel my energy and get fit and healthy again. At least, that’s what these programs promise.

The program I chose consists of the following steps: two pre-cleansing days where you only eat light meals and avoid acidic foods, a seven-day juice, soup and tea cleanse, another 21-day cleanse where you only eat non-toxic foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables and include one fast day per week. During the whole program you are supposed to exercise 3-4 times a week (moderate training only).

And afterwards, you are supposed to feel revitalized and can start with a new healthy meal plan.

Getting started

I have to admit that I am a bit scared and I am not sure I can manage it, especially during business hours at the office or at press events, but I decided to go for it – under the supervision of my doctor and physical therapist. So today, Februar 4th 2017, is day one of my 30-day body cleanse.

How do I feel? VERY tired, but also a bit excited to prepare my juices and detox tea for the next nine days. – I will share my updates every week to let you know how I am doing.
