Ireland is such a beautiful travel destination. I have only been to Dublin City and Portmarnock, but I immediately fell in love with the country. I only spent one day in Dublin city so that I cannot really tell you much about it – I definitely have to come back :-) – but Portmarnock is a real beauty!

Bild1Portmarnock is situated to the north of Dublin City in County Fingal. It is famous for its world class golf course which formally opened on December 26 1894, while another links course, opened in the 1990s, was designed by German golfer Bernhard Langer. That golf course and its accompanying hotel are built around the former home of the Jameson Whiskey distilling family. The original house dates back to 1847 and is now home to the Jameson Bar, where golfers can unwind before and after golf.

From the moment you arrive at the Portmarnock Hotel, the friendly staff will take care of your every need. This leaves you free to walk on the award-winning, magnificent ‘Velvet Strand’ beach, play on their championship Dublin golf links course, enjoy pampering in the health & beauty clinic or dine on delicious, locally sourced cuisine. The luxurious 4 star hotel, which is one of the top wedding hotels in Dublin, combines modern elegance with all the grandeur of a 19th century home, once owned by members of the Jameson Whiskey dynasty. You immediately feel like a cast member of a Rosamunde Pilcher movie and forget the whole world around you.

So, if you are looking for a relaxing get-away, you should stay at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, one of Ireland’s premier places to stay and play links golf all year round.
