Barcelona is one of my favorite cities in Europe. Its influence in entertainment, media, fashion and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world’s major global cities and it is always worth a short trip.
I gotta admit that I am not really a budget traveller – in fact, I even love to endulge in luxury every now and then. And I enjoy saving up every single penny for such trips. Thus, I came across this luxury 5 star hotel. The Majestic Hotel and Spa Barcelona has been one of Barcelona’s most visible landmarks since 1918, when it was built in this highly sought-after location just 10 minutes’ stroll away from Plaça de Catalunya. In the early 1990s it was radically renovated and upgraded to deluxe status while retaining the dignified stateliness of the public areas, but adding a sense of color and contemporary drama in the bedrooms. Today, each is outfitted in a different, mainly monochromatic color scheme, with carpets, artwork, and upholsteries. Its Drolma restaurant has a Michelin star.
I only stayed two nights, but I am still in love with it. Their roof top has this amazing view over Barcelona and literally takes your breath away. The staff was extremely friendly, the service excellent and the food to die for. Unfortunately, I did not get to try out some of their spa treatments, but will definitely take a rain check.
So, if you ever look for a luxurious weekend getaway in Barcelona, you should definitely check out this one.
